Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Player the Athlete

The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night stating they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and had been in communication with the NFL.

The team did not mention the player specifically in their statement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice by name, posted a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Rice's Recent Legal Issues

Rice missed the initial part of this season following an league-mandated ban for his role in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that left multiple people hurt. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.
