The Canadian skeleton team were cleared of accusations that they rigged a qualifying event for the Winter Olympics, thereby denying rival athletes a spot to qualify.

A prominent American athlete Katie Uhlaender alleged the team from Canada of pulling a majority of its entered athletes from a race in Lake Placid. The allegation was this shrunk the competition, making fewer qualifying points available. Although she took first place, Uhlaender did not secure her berth for the Milan-Cortina Games.

“The current IBSF Rules permit National Federations to withdraw athletes from an event at any time,” stated the governing body.

After reviewing the matter, the federation announced it would not impose sanctions, rejecting the allegations as there was no breach of its regulations.

In response, Bobsleigh Canada Skeleton defended the decision, citing athlete welfare and the need for rest. They stated that some athletes had competed extensively that week and the decision was “appropriate, transparent and in keeping with both their well-being and the sport's fairness.”
