Approximately 55,000 families have so far been affected by the storms, with their items and temporary homes damaged.

Heavy storms over the last seven days have worsened the precarious circumstances of the hundreds of thousands of evacuated residents in the Gaza Strip, as stated by relief groups.

"Terrible" Conditions Creates Severe Dangers

A official described the recent storm as "terrible", with precipitation so intense that up to 15cm (6in) of water was seen on the ground.

"Last night was truly horrendous for the residents. The heavy rains were so intense... And the gales were so powerful," noted the representative.

Officials express grave anxiety that young ones residing in makeshift shelters in wet attire will succumb to hypothermia and various sicknesses.

Casualties and Widespread Damage

Health authorities have reported that one baby has died from hypothermia and a minimum of 11 other people have lost their lives in structural failures caused by the harsh conditions.

Additional accounts indicate a greater death toll. Authorities said that multiple homes had fully given way and many others had sustained partial collapse.

  • Roughly 55,000 families harmed by the weather.
  • More than 40 designated safe spaces severely flooded.
  • Numerous individuals compelled to relocate again.

Assistance Efforts Deemed Not Enough

Organizations have stepped up shipments of tarpaulins, bedding and garments since the truce commenced, but they emphasize there is still not enough aid getting in.

"We are working relentlessly to deliver that assistance and to allocate it, but the scale of the requirements is so immense that we still have a great number of families and minors who are genuinely enduring hardship every night," stated one spokesperson.

Long-Term Challenges and Truce Plans

The subsequent part of the truce encompasses proposals for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with future administration, the pullback of personnel, and other terms.

Humanitarian bodies have stressed the need for "greater and continuous aid to respond to immediate and long-term needs."

The hostilities was initiated by an attack in late 2023. Following campaigns have caused a high number of fatalities in the area, according to health ministry data.
